Dan is a life-long Lucas County resident and appreciates the good life South Central Iowa has provided him and his family. Dan received his B.S. in Farm Operations from Iowa State University in 1972. He established Kent Farm Management and Real Estate in 1986 and co-owns this business with his wife, Debbie. He is principal Broker for real estate transactions and actively manages twenty farms for absentee owners. Dan has a 200 head Angus cow herd as a part time endeavor. He enjoys spending time with his family – especially his grandchildren, spending time on his farm, and playing cards with friends.

Deb is a long-time Lucas County resident graduating from Iowa State University with a degree in Speech and English. She and husband, Dan, have two married children and three grandchildren. They reside on a farm west of Lucas, Iowa near Stephens State Forest.
Deb joined Kent Farm Management and Real Estate in 1989 helping to expand the business into the residential market. She is a Broker Associate specializing in residential sales and does the company bookkeeping. With her years of experience, attention to detail and communication skills, she works well with both Buyers and Sellers. Deb would be glad to work with you in finding that special home or listing your property for sale. Deb’s greatest love is spending time with her family especially her three grandchildren. Her hobbies include decorating, cooking and gardening. She also enjoys getting together with friends especially her candy- making group. Alan Umbenhower is an Associate Broker/Farm Manager with Kent Farm Management and Real Estate. He was born and raised in Lucas County on his family’s farm West of Chariton. After graduating from Chariton High School, he went into the grain handling and feed business for 14 years. In 1991, he went into the Real Estate and Farm Management business. He has lived on a farm all his life and currently has a cow/calf operation with his father and his son. He enjoys golf and all sports in his spare time, if he has any!

Rita resides in southern Wayne County on a farm with her husband, Jim, and their youngest daughter, Kia who is a homeschooled 2010 high school graduate. There they have a large beef cow/calf herd, do some backgrounding and finishing, and produce the grains and hay necessary to support that operation. As an aside, she and Kia have a meat goat enterprise that includes approximately seventy Boer nannies. Rita has her personal farm projects that include chickens, guineas, a dairy cow and dairy goat. Recently, she has begun learning the art of cheesemaking for home use.
Rita and Jim are the parents of seven children – three of whom were adopted. As a result of the adoption process, Rita worked six years as an adoption trainer for prospective adoptive parents for the state of Iowa. Other interests include their eight grandchildren and two-year old great-granddaughter, church activities, cooking, gardening, and reading. John was raised on a dairy farm in northwest Iowa near LeMars. Following high school, John graduated from
Iowa State University in 1972 with a B.S. in Animal Science. John has been employed in the financial services
industry for 37 years- presently serves as Market President for Great Western Bank in Chariton- and has held his
real estate sales license for over 20 years. John has been a resident of Chariton since 1976.

Karen (Cain) Howell was raised in Chariton and graduated from Chariton High School. She married Howard Howell who had a 20 year career in the Air Force. While in the Air Force they lived in the Philippines, Delaware, England and Utah. Upon Howard's retirement they returned to Chariton to be closer to family. Karen is the Administrative Assistant. Some of her tasks are balancing accounts for the
farms that Dan manages, correspondence, typing forms for our real estate sales, and
computer inputing. Before coming to work for Kent Farm Management and Real Estate, Karen and her husband have 2 boys, 1 that is married with 2 children and 1 who is engaged to be married the summer of 2011. Karen enjoys spending her free time with her family and also enjoys running. She recently completed her second half marathon. |
